Mountain Walking and Hiking

Discover and explore

Vaujany, with 300 days of sunshine per year, is paradise for walking holidays in the French Alps. The famous walking route GR54 starts and finishes in Bourg d’Oisans below and passes through the hills and valleys only a few miles away, through the Ecrins National Park

The Oisans has such extraordinary natural heritage that a National park, the largest in France, was created to enhance the environment and protect the area. The area has specially designed parts to help discover the richness of the area:

  1. Observation points
  2. Nature trail footpaths
  3. Information points
  4. Refuges

Enjoy discovering the extremely varied fauna and flora as you hike across contrasting landscapes and settings. Our enthusiastic staff can always advise you on route choices, picnic spots and challenges for all levels.

Walk further afield and stay over

There are a series of accommodation options available at high often remote locations that allow the mountain walkers the possibility of taking on longer walks with an overnight stay on the mountain and thus cutting down on the equipment needed.

They vary from Alpine hostels, almost like hotels to little more than glorified cowsheds. They are usually staffed and catered and you can be sure of a warm welcome and the company of fellow hard-core hikers. A night in a refuge is an experience to treasure.
