La Vaujany

La Vaujany is our local trophy to be won! A benchmark race in the Alps, marking the beginning of a cycling week. Known as the Oisans Trophy it takes many renowned mountain passes enjoyed by all enthusiasts; this is an excellent opportunity to train and prepare for other sportives such as the Marmotte. 173km and 3,850m of climbing or 109km with 2,450km of climbing. A tough event with the longer course passing our door and eventually finishing in the village.

Oisans Col Series - Croix de Fer

La Marmotte

Probably one of the most popular cycling sportive in the world the La Marmotte has now been running for over 20 years and it is one of our local sportives. The event takes place on the first Saturday of July and attracts nearly 7000 riders.
Entries go on sale in December and sell out quickly so don’t leave it until the last moment.
The event is a true test of stamina and riding ability starting in the market town of Bourg d’Oisans at the base of Alpe d’Huez. The first summit comes after 40km up the Col du Glandon. Then a long descent and valley ride to the Col du Télégraphe and on to the Col du Galibier. From this high perch it is a 50km descent to the bottom of Alpe d’Huez where the fun really starts… oh yes, the hardest 13km of your life is in the form of the 21 bend climb! This event is not for the unfit or novice rider.

Unbelievably we have regular guests who return year after year to take part along with 1500 other incredibly fit people. We have huge respect to anyone who finishes.

Tour De France

Stage 12- Bourg-Saint-Maurice to Alpe d'Huez.
The sportif will pass over the col de la Madeleine into the Maurienne valley and up past Saint-Sorlin before reaching it's highest altitude of 2,067 to then descend down the Col de la Croix de Fer. After here it's a the long flat valley of Allemont and Bour d'Oisans before the mythical Alpe d'Huez climb.
Stage 13 - Bourg d'Oisans to Valence
A 169 km route to exit the Alps. The Tour will leave the Oisans through the Romanche valley towards Grenoble, then cross the valley of the Rhone and to Valence.

Granfondo Les 2 Alpes

This is the new name given to the historic Marco Pantani Sportive. A high-altitude challenge ideal for budding Wiggins and Froomes’ and walking fanatics. La Granfondo 2 Alpes is held at the gateway to the Ecrins National Park, taking fabulous routes along unspoilt roads between the Oisans and Valbonnais.
On Saturday there is a timed race between Chambon and Les Deux Alpes where you can compare yourself to the great man himself. This competition starts at 14:00.
The main competitions are on the Sunday where there are 3 options:
The Master is a 164km road bike race starting in Les Deux Alpes and venturing up numerous cols around the Valbonnais area including the Col d’Ornon, back over to Alpe d’Huez via L’Alpe du Grande Serre and the Vallée de la Romanche proceeding onto Les Deux Alpes via Les Balcons d’Auris. There are three pit stops along the way for continuing competitors to take on some well needed nutrition and rest.
There is a 70km senior class race with variations as well as a 50km non-timed walking competition between Les Deux Alpes and Alpe d’Huez.

A training circuit race via Villard Reculas with the last climb being up to Vaujany. 40 tough kilometers and 1600m height gain! With the finish 200 metres from your chalet where could be better than Vaujany with Peak Adventures?

Critérium du Dauphiné

The Critérium du Dauphiné is an important annual race in the lead-up to the Tour de France and it is part of the UCI World Ranking calendar. The race was inaugurated in 1947 by a local newspaper, the Dauphiné Libéré, which gave its name to the event. The route runs through mountainous areas so it comes as no surprise that the winners are often climbing specialists.
It involves many world famous cols in our area used by the Tour de France such as Alpe d’Huez and the Col du Galibier.

Timed cycle climbs to Alpe d’Huez

Commences at 10.00am and very popular. Pay only €5 to register, climb the legendary 21 hairpins up to Alpe d’Huez and get awarded a certificate.

Montées d’Oz

Timed ascent of the road leading to Oz en Oisans resort, commencing at 10.00am. Departure in front of Oz Village ’mairie’ / town hall (altitude 800 m), finish in Oz en Oisans resort (1350 m). Free timed event, open to all, and every finisher receives a certificate.

l'Alpe d'Auris - Cycle race

L’Alpe d’Auris, is a road cycle race featuring 50 km and 2000m of height gain.
Start from Bourg d’Oisans (717 m), mythical ascent of Alpe d’Huez, Col de Sarenne, Le Freney d’Oisans and finally the ascent of Auris en Oisans.

Croix de Fer Challenge

A timed cycle climb between Bourg d’Oisans and the Col de la Croix de Fer. The challenge is organised by Bourg d’Oisans Tourist Office in partnership with the Saint Sorlin d’Arves Tourist Office.

Nocturne Cyclo Gourmande d'Oz

Make the climb from the village up to the Oz-en-Oisans station at night by any means you desire; road bike, running, mountain bike, e-bike. When you reach the top celebrate with a pasta buffet and refreshments.
The 1000 metres of Galibier

A timed climb between Villar-d’Arène and the Col du Galibier. Event open to all. Non-licensed holders will need a medical certificate.

l’Étape du Tour Mondovélo

L'Etape du Tour was established in 1993 to allow amateur cyclists to test their legs on the route of one of the mountain stages in the Tour de France, has become the reference race for cyclosportive riders from all over the world.
Over 50 different nationalities are represented in the field. Riders come from far and wide, all of them burning with the same passion for the Tour de France and the legendary French mountains.
L'Etape du Tour is a travelling race. It is a unique annual opportunity to discover new regions and landscapes, combinging a sporting challenge with tourism in France.
