Swim

The TIME Alpe d'Huez, long distance Triathlon takes place in an exceptional setting and over a unique course!

The swimming event takes place in the crystal waters of the Lac du Verney. The lake is surrounded by wooded peaks and offers a beautiful peaceful location. The water temperature is a rather chilly 15°C which is soon forgotten due to the sheer delight of competing in this setting.

Cycle

The bike race course is quite simply legendary making it totally unique, with two mountain passes on the programme:@

  1. The Col d'Ornon (1371 m)
  2. The Alpe du Grand Serre (1375 m)
  3. The notorious 21 switchbacks of Alpe d’Huez which is included in nearly every Tour de France due its grueling and unforgiving nature

Run

Finally, once contestants have discarded their bikes in Alpe d’Huez, it is onto the running section of the triathlon. The route combines mountain paths and roads consisting of three 7.3 km loops. This is one of the top international triathlon competitions due to its high-altitude and sheer exertion that competitors face
