Rock climbing is a great way to get in shape and have fun outdoors. If you're just getting started, there are a few pieces of gear that you should make sure to own. In this blog post, we will discuss three things that every rock climber should have!

Climbing Shoes

Climbing shoes are essential for rock climbing. They provide support and grip to help you climb more easily. There are a variety of different types of climbing shoes available, so it's important to choose the right pair for your needs. Traditional climbing shoes are best suited for indoor climbing as they provide maximum support and protection from the ground. Approach shoes have a thick sole that can be used outdoors or on rough terrain like gravel roads. They are also good if you plan to walk around in them before starting your climb (i.e., hiking up a mountain).

Sporting footwear like running sneakers is great for beginners who want something affordable and comfortable but won't last long if used regularly. Mountaineering boots and mountaineering shoes are designed for hiking on rough terrain as well as climbing up steep rock faces.

They usually have a stiffer sole than other types of footwear and are suitable for use in snow or ice conditions. When shopping for climbing shoes, make sure to start with this guide in hand and try on several pairs until you find the one that fits best. You'll also want to make sure they are comfortable before making a purchase. Climb with them at least once and see how well they work for you!

Climbing Harness

A climbing harness is a piece of gear that attaches to your body and helps keep you safe while rock climbing. It has two main loops: one around your waist and the other around your thighs. The waist loop goes over your hips and the thigh loop rests just above your knees. A climbing harness also includes leg loops, which are connected to the waist loop by metal D-rings. These rings help keep the harness in place when you're climbing.

Climbing harnesses come in a variety of different styles, so it's important to choose the right one for your needs. There are sport climbing harnesses, trad climbing harnesses, big wall/alpine climbing harnesses, and even children's climbing harnesses. You can also buy adjustable-fit harnesses, which are great if you're unsure of your size or want to share with someone else in your family.

If you're looking for a climbing harness that's easy to wear, check out the Black Diamond Vision Sport Climbing Harness. It has padded leg loops and a waistbelt so it won't dig into your skin while hanging from ropes all day long! The front gear loop holds up to four ice clippers on either side of the belay device attachment point (or two on one side and none on the other). This means there's plenty of room for whatever else you might need like quickdraws, carabiners, and more.

Belay Device

A belay device is an essential piece of equipment for rock climbers. It allows them to safely climb while being protected by ropes that are attached at the top of a wall or other climbing surface. There are many different types of belay devices, so it's important to choose the right one based on your experience level and what you're trying to accomplish with this tool!

One type is called a "tube" style which consists of two tubes connected in series: one goes around your waist then through both legs before coming back out again near where it started from (or vice versa). The other kind looks like half a circle when viewed from above but has smaller openings along its edges as well as larger ones that lead into it through which a rope passes on either side of your body, this allows you to rappel down without having anything obstructing movement. Make sure to always wear both pieces of equipment when climbing because if one fails during use you could fall and get seriously injured.

The term "ATC" refers to an air traffic control device. This gadget has two tubes that are linked in series: one goes around your waist, then through both legs before returning out where it began, and the other is a half-circle with smaller openings along its edges and larger ones that lead into it on either side of your body. You pass a rope through both pieces so that when rappelling down or climbing up, nothing obstructs movement!

Rock climbing is a great way to get outdoors and active. If you're into rock climbing, there are a few pieces of gear you should have in your arsenal. These recommended tools can help you explore your hobby to the fullest.
